July 20 — Annual Summer Service of Music! (10 AM Only) Come join us for this annual summer performance of music and song presented by UU musicians Jan Dash, Joel De Witt, and Howard Dean. “Summer of Art” program for kids age 3 and up will be prisms, designs for coloring with Aida. July 27 — Young Adult and Youth Worship “Social Action: Making What We Say into What We Do” (10 AM Only) Come join us as we create a community around the social injustices currently happening in our world. Together, we will experience how we as an intergenerational community can change the world by banding together and focusing our energy on local, national and international problems. The worship will be kid-friendly. Please wear comfortable clothes, as most Youth and Young Adult worship consists of lots of movement as well as activity. “Summer of Art” program for kids age 3 and up will be Yarn Art with Patricia August
3 — “No Easy Music” (10 AM Only) August 6 and 9 mark the anniversaries of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945. The immensely complicated moral issues these events raise are always important, but they are especially pressing in these times. "Summer of Art” program for kids age 3 and up will be Mosaics with Stacey. August 10 — “And Yet One Word Frees Us”
(10 AM Only) The ancient Greek story of Oedipus is a timeless tale of anguish and acceptance, and of the loyalties that sustain us in the face of tragedy. The genius of Sophocles is revealed in his skill at weaving timeless religious themes into compelling human drama. “Summer of Art” program for kids age 3 and up will be SuperChalice Quilting with Nancy. August 17 — “Celebrating Evolution” (10 AM Only) Connie Barlow, science writer and popular UU speaker, will share her “cosmic creation story.” Connie and her husband, Michael Dowd, have presented their exciting program to over 250 UU congregations. Building on the philosophy of Carl Sagan, Connie and Michael bring the whole wide wonderful universe to us. PLEASE NOTE: We are thrilled to offer a follow-up workshop by Connie’s husband, Michael Dowd, as he explores a timely topic in today’s world, “Thank God for Evolution.” Copies of Michael’s new book by the same title will be available at the workshop. Born Over and Over” (10 AM Only) We all have our cherished childhood memories that shape our values. As we grow, the past does not change, but our relationship to our past helps form who we are. “Summer of Art” program for kids age 3 and up will be painting with Eryka. September 7 — “Ingathering”
